Off-site Outreach
& Backlink Strategy
Getting Yoreh named in the sources AI quotes.
Off-site branded mentions are the #1 AI-citation lever, roughly 3x backlinks. Get Yoreh into the listicles and Reddit threads engines already quote, jackets first and everything else second. Yoreh is currently in zero jacket listicles, and the Cool Hunting piece is the lever that opens the rest.
The Point: Mentions, Not Links
The job is not "build links," it is get Yoreh into the specific pages the engines already cite, per pocket. A link is a bonus; a mention is the goal.
This is the operational layer I'd sit under your content strategy's off-site engine (section 11): your target list, your pitch templates, and the routine for getting Yoreh named in the sources AI quotes. I've grounded it in the competitor research, so the targets are real, not generic.
The single most predictive factor for AI visibility in 2026 is off-site branded mentions, roughly three times stronger than backlinks (Ahrefs, 75k brands). AI answer engines quote editorial roundups, Reddit, and authority pages far more than a new brand's own blog. So the job here is not "build links," it's to get Yoreh into the specific pages the engines already cite, per pocket.
What The Research Proved
Jackets are an open lane Yoreh is in none of, and now the only priority pocket. Alt silver is a slower roundup-and-Reddit grind. Meteorite is dropped.
- Smart ring jackets. The AI-answer corpus is a small set of editorial listicles (NBC Select, Grazia, themodems, TechTimes). Yoreh appears in none of them. The brand that "owns" the top query, Buffr, is a silicone protector that won it with a press-release blitz plus a self-published comparison guide, not a jewelry brand. The lane is open for you.
- Lunar meteorite. Dropped as a pocket. The research found one incumbent, The Space & Meteorite Co., owning both the query and the "is it fake / how to verify" authenticity content. It was winnable, but you removed meteorite as a brand focus, so there is no reason to spend outreach effort on a line that is selling through. No meteorite pitches, and no r/meteorite.
- Alt / recycled silver. Discovery runs through comparison roundups (STRUGA even publishes its own "dark silver brands" listicles), the men's and alternative jewelry guides, and Reddit (r/jewelry, r/Silverbugs). Getting Yoreh added to those roundups is the move.
Target Map
Tier 1 is the roundups and listicles to get into: highest leverage, per pocket, with a concrete angle for each. Tier 2 is Reddit; Tier 3 is digital PR.
| # | Target | Why it matters | Angle | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Jackets | NBC Select "Oura ring covers" | Cited by AI for the head query | The recycled-silver, sensors-exposed, fits-both option |
| 02 | Jackets | Grazia, themodems, TechTimes jacket roundups | Editorial corpus AI quotes | Same, plus the alt aesthetic no rival owns |
| 03 | Jackets | Cool Hunting, once live: use it in every subsequent pitch | An editor is likelier to cover what another editor covered | "As covered by Cool Hunting", plus the spec block |
| 04 | Alt silver | STRUGA-style "dark/alt silver brands" roundups, apartstyle "brands like The Great Frog" | Where the niche is discovered | Hand-cast, recycled 925, minimalist and unisex |
| 05 | Alt silver | Founder and maker interviews, craft and process features | Named founder is the citation AI attaches to | Fin Matson, lost-wax cast by hand, made to order |
r/ouraring and r/smartrings (jackets), r/jewelry and r/Silverbugs (silver). r/meteorite and the space communities are dropped along with the meteorite pocket. Reddit is one of the most AI-cited sources, strongest on Perplexity.
Press-release distribution (the Buffr tactic), creator and reviewer gifting, and expert-source platforms (HARO / Qwoted / Featured) for quotes in jewelry, wellness, and wearable-tech articles.
Play 1: Get Into The Roundups
Lead with what makes Yoreh the missing option a piece should cover, and hand the editor something concrete. Removing their work earns the placement.
- Build the target list above into a tracker (columns in section 08). Add the editor or byline for each piece.
- Pitch inclusion with template O1. Lead with what makes Yoreh the missing option that piece should cover (recycled silver + sensors-exposed for jackets; genuine lunar + COA for meteorite), not a generic "please feature us."
- Offer the editor something concrete: product to test, high-res images, a clear spec block, and the honest differentiator. Removing their work is what earns you the placement.
- For roundups that clearly refresh (themodems, brand-comparison blogs), a polite "you cover X and Y, here is why Yoreh belongs alongside them" is often enough.
Play 2: Community Presence
One genuinely helpful, disclosed answer in r/ouraring is worth more than ten owned blog posts, and cannot be faked at scale. Disclosure is non-negotiable.
- Participate, do not advertise. Answer real questions honestly in the target subs, with photos, and disclose your affiliation every time ("I make these, happy to answer"). One genuinely helpful, disclosed answer in r/ouraring is worth more than ten owned blog posts and cannot be faked at scale.
- Seed the honest answers to the exact questions the content targets: does a cover affect Oura accuracy, which jacket fits which Oura generation, does sterling silvertarnish.
- Never astroturf, use sockpuppets, or post fake reviews. It is against Reddit rules, it is detectable, and it poisons the entity signal. Disclosure is non-negotiable.
Play 3: Digital PR & Earned Media
Publish the definitive comparison, then distribute a release so it syndicates into the corpus AI reads. Gift jackets to reviewers. Land expert quotes with you as the named source.
- The Buffr lesson, done honestly. Buffr won the category query by publishing an authoritative comparison and distributing a press release (GlobeNewswire, Yahoo). You can do the same with a real story: "a jeweler turns the Oura ring into hand-cast recycled-silver fine jewelry" or "genuine lunar-meteorite jewelry, certified." Publish the definitive comparison (see content strategy Brief A), then distribute a release so it gets syndicated into the corpus AI reads.
- Creator and reviewer gifting. Send jackets to Oura and wearable-tech reviewers and jewelry creators. Their posts and videos become citable mentions. Prioritize reviewers who already rank for "oura ring accessories."
- Expert-source (HARO / Qwoted). Answer reporter queries in jewelry, sustainability, and wearable-tech with you as the named source. Each landed quote is a branded mention on an authority domain.
Paid and Affiliate Placements
You are open to modest paid placement if it is legitimate. There is a real line here: affiliate roundups and clearly-disclosed sponsored features are fine and are cited by AI like any other editorial. Paid links sold as editorial are not, and can cost you more than they buy.
This section replaces the meteorite authority sub-play, which is retired along with the meteorite pocket. You said you would consider modest paid placement, so here is the shape of it, ahead of a vetted list with real costs.
- Affiliate roundups. Safe, and often the best value. Publications that take a commission on sales through their links. The inclusion is editorial, the writer still picks the products, and the commercial relationship is disclosed. AI cites these exactly like any other roundup. Typical structure is no upfront fee and 10 to 20% commission, though some ask for a flat placement fee on top.
- Clearly-disclosed sponsored features. Safe if genuinely labelled. A paid article marked as sponsored or partner content. The label costs you some authority weight, but the mention is real and it is honest. Typical range for the mid-tier lifestyle and wearable-tech outlets in your category is a few hundred to low thousands per placement.
- Paid links dressed as editorial. Do not. Guest-post networks, "we can add you to our existing article for a fee" outreach, and private blog networks. These violate search guidelines, the sites they run on tend to get devalued, and a mention on a devalued domain is worth nothing to either search or AI. The offers arrive constantly and are always framed as a bargain.
1. Would the piece exist without the payment? An affiliate roundup would. A paid link inserted into a two-year-old article would not.
2. Is the commercial relationship disclosed to the reader? If the answer is "no, that's the point", it is the category to avoid.
3. Does the outlet have real readers? Check whether anything on the site is ever shared, cited or commented on. A great many placement sellers run sites nobody reads.
What we owe you: a vetted list of specific outlets with real costs, weighted to the jacket pocket. That is not in this document yet, and it is on the open list.
Pitch Templates
Three templates, one per play: listicle inclusion to an editor, creator gifting, and an expert-source response. Each leads with the honest differentiator, not a generic ask.
Integrity Gates
Disclose in every community post. No astroturfing, no paid-link schemes, no unverifiable claims. Earned mentions and honest gifting only.
- Gate 01Disclose affiliation in every community post. No astroturfing, sockpuppets, or fake reviews, ever.
- Gate 02No paid-link schemes that violate search guidelines. Earned mentions and honest gifting only.
- Gate 03Every product and provenance claim stays inside the integrity gates in the content strategy (gold spec, meteorite COA, recycled-silver cert). On gold, the confirmed line is 18k gold plating over recycled 925 sterling silver, on the smart ring jackets only. Do not say vermeil.
- Gate 04Bali is the workshop, never the brand's base. "Handcrafted in our Bali workshop" is true and worth saying. "A Bali brand", "a Canggu label" or "Indonesia-based" is the exact description the baseline scan found in 61% of answers, and none of those answers identified the US entity. A pitch is how that sentence gets into a third-party page, and a third-party page is far harder to correct than your own. If an editor writes it that way, ask for the correction while the piece is still fresh.
Tracker & Cadence
Weight everything to the jackets. One roundup inclusion or one cited Reddit answer beats a month of owned posts on head terms.
| Target | Type | Contact | Status | Live URL | AI-cited? | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Piece / thread | Listicle / Reddit / PR / gifting | Jackets / silver / founder | Editor or byline | Pitched → live | On placement | Scan check |
One row per target. Add the editor or byline for each Tier 1 piece before pitching.
- Weight to the jackets. That is the winnable pocket. Alt-silver roundups and founder interviews are the slower, steadier second and third.
- Weekly: 3 to 5 listicle or creator pitches, 2 to 3 disclosed Reddit answers, 1 expert-source response. Follow up once after a week, then move on.
- Measure landed mentions, not effort. One roundup inclusion or one cited Reddit answer beats a month of owned posts on head terms.
